Organ Transplant Support

The Best Support Comes from People Who Get It

What is OTS?

Someone Who Understands

Sometimes you just want to talk to someone who knows what you're going through. Maybe you're waiting for a transplant, thinking about becoming a living donor, caring for a loved one, or adjusting to life after surgery. Whatever your situation, Organ Transplant Support (OTS) can put you in touch with someone who's had a similar experience.

Who Is OTS For?

Transplant Patients
Waiting for a Transplant

Waiting for an organ transplant can be difficult, especially when you don't know what to expect. An OTS mentor can share what the waiting period was like for them and how they managed it.

Living Donation
Considering Living Donation

Thinking about becoming a living donor? You may want to speak with someone who has donated and can tell you about their experience, from making the decision through recovery.

Caregivers
Caregivers & Family Members

Transplantation affects the whole family. OTS offers care partners and family members an opportunity to talk with others who understand what it's like to care for someone before and after transplant.

Post Transplant
Life After Transplant

Life doesn't necessarily return to normal after a transplant. New questions and concerns can come up months or even years later. Talking with another recipient can be helpful, regardless of how long it's been since your surgery.

WHY PEOPLE PARTICIPATE

Talking With Someone Who Understands

There are parts of living with a transplant, waiting for one, or caring for someone that can be difficult to explain. Even the people closest to you may not fully understand what you're experiencing.

That's why OTS brings people together. It's an opportunity to speak with someone who has dealt with similar situations, ask questions, or simply talk about what's going on in your life.

BECOME A MENTOR

Share What You've Learned

Think back to your own transplant experience. What do you wish you'd known? What helped you get through the difficult days? What would you tell someone facing those same situations today? Those experiences are valuable. OTS welcomes transplant recipients, living donors, and care partners who are willing to share what they've learned with others. You don't need to have all the answers. A willingness to listen and speak openly about your own experience is a good place to start.
