Pioneering Efforts in Immune Tolerance
Research of Dr. Joshua Miller
Northwestern’s, state-of-the-art facilities enable the thorough and progressive study of transplant immunology—a term that refers to the complex phenomena that characterize the immune system’s response to a transplanted organ. The CTC’s Immune Tolerance Laboratory provides researchers and clinicians with unique opportunities to study the human immune system and its response to kidney transplants and donor-derived stem cell transplants.
Under the direction of Joshua Miller, MD, one of the nation’spioneers in immune tolerance research, this laboratory enables investigators to explore myriad questions related to immune tolerance (i.e., the process by which an individual’s immune system does not attack a foreign entity, such as a transplanted organ), immunobiology and immunosuppression, and infectious disease.
